Q: Is this armor made in Japan? A: No, the armor is hand crafted in Zhejiang, China. However the armory is Japanese owned and managed. China offers a more economical labor force and product availability then Japan. The workers at this armory work under the guidance of skilled craftsman and artisans who have 124 years of combined experience in armor crafting. Until recently they where only making armor for the Japanese market.
Q: Will this armor fit me?
A: Each armor fits your "average" adult. The armor is made to fit an adult male of 5' 6" and 165 lbs with a 41" chest. However our armor fit most adults from 5' up to 6' tall with no customization needed for height. The front and back of the armor can be easily adjusted to fit up to a 46" chest size. We do offer custom sizing at a flat rate fee of $200, plus an additional material fee of 10% to 30% of the original armor price (depending on sizing). Please contact us for more details.

Q: Do you offer any customization's?
A: We offer custom painting of family crest, name, kanji or symbols on the armor or yoroi bitsu (armor box). We would need you to email us a .jpg file of what you would like painted and where. We would then provide you with a quote. Starting cost is $80 and goes up depending on design.

Q: What is the difference between Battle Samurai Armor Classic Battle Samurai Armor.
A: Classic Armor was used more toward the mid 1500's and features a hineno-jikoro style kabuto and a Yokohagi Okegawa ni-mai dô with the rivets filed down. Although the Classic Armor is made with the same high quality steel it has less plating on the neck and shoulders and does not feature the same ornate designs in the armor as the Battle Series armor does.

The Battle Armor features superior Zunari (head shaped) style kabuto and the Yokohagi Okegawa ni-mai dô with raised dome rivets. It also features more plates neck and shoulder guards.

Q: Is the armor real or for display only?
A: Yes, they are made in the same traditional design and using the same traditional techniques as the armor craftsman used over 500 years ago. The only thing that has changed is some of the tools used to make the armor and using spot welding techniquies with the rivets. It looks great on display in your room or while wearing it on the field of battle.

Q: Is the armor battle ready?
A: Although we do not recommend or sell our armor to be used in any form of combat, it is very capable of being used and withstanding the riggers of training and full contact sparring. Along with traditional armor crafting, we believe in traditional armor testing. Our armor has been tested with great success using fully functional, live samurai swords.

Q: What gauge steel do you use?
A: We use 16 gauge steel on the main section of the armor, kabuto, dô, suneate, kote, kusazuri & haidate. We use 19 gauge steel on the sode, wakibiki, shikoro & menpo.

Q: I want to build and paint my own armor, do you sell unfinished armor parts only?
A: No, we do not. However, from time to time, we do sell armor at discounted prices that where blemished during shipping or that do not pass our quality control testing due to small cosmetic defects. These items are sold on our "Featured Product" page, available only to our members and will be marked accordingly with detailed pictures / description when listed.

Q: What type of materials are used in your armor?
A: We use traditional materials used by armor craftsman used in the mid to late 1500's. Most armor of this time where made from wrought steel plates. Our armor is crafted using wrought steel, silk, leather and cotton material, keeping true to the time. The only difference is that we use new, echo friendly paint instead of the more toxic lacquer paint used in the 16th century.

Q: I see Fenglinhanjia samurai armor on auction sites selling for less money, why?
A: Fenglinhanjia Armory has a MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) of 15%. If you see their armor being sold for more then 15% off the suggested retail price, the seller is not likely selling their armor or is reselling the armor (pre-owned). There are only 3 manufacturer's representatives for the Fenglinhanjia samurai armor which are located in the USA, Germany and Japan.

If you see pictures of our armor being offered by a company in China or Hong Kong it is a knock off, much like the $1,200 Prada bag on sale for $80. There are companies and sellers like "lastarmor", "zbinstore9", "liren88f" and others who are using the Fenglinhanjia Samurai armor photographs. These auctioners also do not include the armor box, stand or inner materials / lining. Fenglinhanjia Armory and Little Star Enterprises, Inc., have NO relationship with any chinese seller and we are not responsible for any of your claims, loss, damage and whatever happens by their unauthorized copies. Fenglinhanjia does NOT sell (retail or wholesale) to anyone anyone accept their 3 authorized represenatives.
